Akshardham Delhi 2026: Timings, Tickets & Entry Rules

Swaminarayan Akshardham is free to enter, closed every Monday, and opens at 10:00 AM from Tuesday to Sunday. Phones, cameras, smartwatches and most bags are not allowed inside: you deposit them at the free cloakroom before security. The exhibitions and the evening water show have separate tickets bought inside. Plan at least three hours, or four if you stay for the water show.
It is worth visiting if you enjoy monumental architecture and have a half-day to spare. On a one- or two-day trip, the travel time to East Delhi and the security process make it a harder fit than central sights like Humayun's Tomb.

Exhibition and show prices differ slightly between websites. Buy them at the counter inside, where the current prices are displayed.
Entry rules: read these before you go
Akshardham's security is stricter than any other sight in Delhi, and it is the main reason visits run long.
- No phones, cameras or electronics. This includes smartwatches and earphones. Switch them off and hand them in at the free cloakroom near the entrance before the security queue.
- Bags: large bags are not allowed. Keep to a small purse or wallet, or leave bags at the cloakroom.
- Food: do not bring outside food. There is a vegetarian food court inside.
- Dress code: shoulders and knees must be covered for everyone. If your clothes do not meet the rule, a wrap is available against a refundable deposit.
- Photography: not allowed inside the complex. Official photographers take paid souvenir photos at set points.
How to get to Akshardham
Take the Blue Line towards Noida Electronic City or Vaishali and get off at Akshardham station. DMRC's gate list shows a single exit, Gate No. 1 on the East Approach Road; follow the signs and the crowd for the short walk to the temple entrance.
From Connaught Place, the Blue Line from Rajiv Chowk takes you straight there without changing trains. By road, allow extra time in the evening rush, when the Nizamuddin bridge and NH-24 approach get congested; see Delhi peak traffic hours.
What to see inside
- The main monument (mandir) – the carved pink sandstone and white marble temple, with its domes, pillars and sculpted elephants around the base. Entry is free. 30–45 minutes.
- Exhibitions – the paid ticket covers three parts: the Hall of Values (robotic dioramas on values from Swaminarayan's life), the Neelkanth giant-screen film about his journey as a teenage yogi, and the Sanskruti Darshan boat ride through scenes of Indian history and science. About 90 minutes in total.
- Gardens – the Bharat Upavan gardens with bronze statues of national figures. 20–30 minutes.
- Sahaj Anand water show – a multimedia fountain show of about 24 minutes at the Yagnapurush Kund stepwell, held after sunset. Start times change with the season.
The complex opened on 6 November 2005 and was built by the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha.
